Mere minutes were all it took for Australia to surpass the not-so-grand-total West Indies had set for them after two rounds of batting. Chasing 26 runs on Day 3 of the Australia vs West Indies, 1st Test in Adelaide, the hosts crossed the line without ever exerting themselves and claimed a victory in front of a jubilant home crowd. (AUS Vs WI 1st Test Scores | More Cricket News)

Travis Head, rather than Smith, proved decisive with the bat in the first Australian innings. The ICC Cricket World Cup-winning hero scored 119 on his first attempt, allowing the hosts to supplant West Indies in the lead and rack up a big total that the visitors nearly failed to overcome. Head claimed the man-of-the-match award for his efforts.

The Australian bowlers, too, had a game to remember. Despite Joseph stealing the headlines due to his outstanding debut, seasoned pros Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood went about their sensational work silently, claiming eight of the ten wickets - split equally - in the first West Indian innings. Hazlewood continued his splendid spell in the second, claiming five in another brilliant display with the ball.

Australia will take a 1-0 lead with them to The Gabba, where the second Test between the two sides is scheduled to begin on January 25. Following its conclusion, the teams will compete in three One Day Internationals and three T20 Internationals.
