Punjab: Pakistani Intruder Shot Dead Along International Border In Pathankot Ahead Of I-Day

At?about 3 am,?BSF personnel detected irregular movement on the international border near Simbal Sakol village of Pathankot district. This is the second case of this kind occurring on the Punjab border over the last four days.

The Border Security Force notified that a?Pakistani intruder was shot dead along the international border in the?Pathankot district of Punjab on Monday. This incident occurred?ahead of India's Independence Day amidst the security getting beefed up across the country.

According to reports, at?about 3 am,?BSF personnel detected irregular movement on the international border near Simbal Sakol village of Pathankot district.

An officer told HT, “Our troops challenged the intruder, but he did not stop and continued moving ahead towards border fencing. Sensing imminent threat and to stop further misadventure, BSF troops fired upon the miscreant in self-defence neutralising him on the spot."

In addition, a team of senior BSF officers from national capital arrived in Punjab for the purpose of monitoring security arrangements on the international border.

A meeting with border officials from Punjab was held by the Force's Director General, Nitin Agarwal.

In the past four days, there have been two similar cases at the Punjab border. On August 11, BSF personnel near Thehkalan village of Tarn Taran district shot down a Pak intruder who was trying to enter the Indian territory.

With the occasion of Independence Day, Punjab has been placed on maximum alert and is being closely monitored by the Police and Border Security Force for all suspected movements in addition to drones across the border.
