The principal of an education and training institute has been caught while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 2,500, which he had sought to buy alcohol and meat from an employee to forward a file for verification in Latur district of Maharashtra, an Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) official said on Wednesday.

Rajendra Nepalbuva Giri (58), the principal of the Latur District Education and Training Institute (LDETI) located at Murud town, was caught accepting the bribe money on Tuesday, he said.?

The complainant in the case is an employee of the institute who had approached Giri, a resident of Latur, for clearing his pending salary of four months and sending his pension file to the institute's Nagpur office for verification, said the ACB official. To help the employee, the principal allegedly demanded a bribe to buy alcohol and meat, he said.

On receiving a complaint, an ACB team laid a trap and caught Giri while taking a bribe of Rs 2,500 from his subordinate, said the official. A case has been registered against the accused at the Shivajinagar Police Station in Latur, ?Deputy Superintendent of Police (ACB) Pandit Rejitwad said.
