Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is likely to be given key role in BJP ahead of 2024 Lok Sabha Election.
Senior BJP leader Chouhan met his party’s president Nadda for the first time after he resigned as the Madhya Pradesh CM.
He lead BJP to a huge victory in the state in the last month's assembly polls.
Later, Chouhan said they discussed national upliftment, public welfare and social service.
His meeting with BJP president Nadda has sparked speculation about his role within the party ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
Chouhan said as a party worker, he would carry out whatever role is decided for him by the BJP.
"The party will decide whether I will be in the state or at the Centre. If you are working on a big mission, it is the party that makes decisions," he was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s political future:
Chouhan said he would return to Bhopal today as he had to attend the first meeting of the state's legislature party.
"The first meeting of state's legislature party is scheduled for today. It is essential for me to be there. So, I am going back today," he said.
There are speculations that Chouhan may be given the role of vice president in the party ahead of 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
It is also be said that BJP is likely to field him from Vidisha Lok Sabha seat for the upcoming Lok Sabha election, while cabinet role may be also given to former MP CM.
Earlier, Chouhan was appointed as the national vice-president and given the responsibility of the membership campaign of BJP.
