According to an official release issued?by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the low-pressure area is likely to move northwest, form a depression over the Bay of Bengal and intensify into a cyclonic storm ‘Miachaung’.

It has also been forecasted that the Andaman and Nicobar Islands would receive isolated heavy rainfall on December 1 while the?coastal regions of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry would receive isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall from December 2 to December 4.
Similarly, isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall has been predicted over the coastal belts of Andhra Pradesh on December 3 and 4, the IMD said.
As a pre-emptive measure in light of the possibility of a?cyclonic weather, IMD warned fishers not to venture into the southeast Bay of Bengal till December 2, into southwest Bay of Bengal till December 4 and westcentral Bay of Bengal till December 5.
