Prime Minister Narendra Modi's historic visit to Egypt strengthens bilateral ties and ignites a new era of collaboration between the two nations," says India's ambassador, Ajit Gupte. The visit, which marks the first bilateral visit by an Indian prime minister since 1997, aims to bolster the multi-faceted relationship between India and Egypt, which was recently elevated to a 'Strategic Partnership', as PTI reported.

During his visit, Prime Minister Modi will engage in discussions with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to enhance the strategic partnership and explore avenues for further cooperation. Expressing his enthusiasm, Modi emphasized the significance of visiting a close and friendly country for the first time and highlighted the successful visit of President Sisi as the Chief Guest at India's Republic Day celebrations.

The deepening defense ties between the two nations were also emphasized, with Ambassador Gupte noting the growth in defense cooperation over the past two years. Notably, joint exercises between Indian and Egyptian fighter aircraft and Special Forces have taken place, further strengthening their collaboration.

The strategic partnership signifies the exceptional relations between India and Egypt, emphasizing the rapidly growing trade, defense, and economic cooperation. This special status reflects the aspirations of both nations and signifies their commitment to fostering a stronger bond.

Egypt's inclusion as a guest country in the G20 was highlighted as a significant step. With its strategic location and influence in the Arab world, Egypt's participation in the G20 is expected to be beneficial, showcasing its significance as a regional player and representing the aspirations of developing countries.

During his visit, Prime Minister Modi will pay tribute to the Indian soldiers who sacrificed their lives in Egypt during the First World War at the Heliopolis War Memorial. Additionally, he will visit the Al-Hakim mosque, restored with the assistance of the Dawoodi Bohra community, which traces its origins to the Fatimid dynasty.

The prime minister's visit will also include an interaction with the Indian community in Egypt, which, although small in number, eagerly awaits the opportunity to welcome him. A community event is being organized to facilitate this meeting and allow the prime minister to engage with the Indian diaspora.
