Taylor Swift fans experienced technological difficulties Tuesday after the pop wonder led them on a virtual Easter egg hunt to reveal her new "1989 (Taylor's Version)" track names.
Taylor Swift collaborates with Google for a vault song reveal — but there’s been a ‘Glitch’
Fans who tried to solve a series of Easter egg puzzles to disclose the titles of new "1989 Taylor's Version" tracks were confronted with technological issues
Swift announced her intention to re-record "1989" when performing in Los Angeles last month; "Taylor's Version" will contain previously unreleased material. As an added gift for fans who stream and purchase her prior re-recording releases, Vault songs have been included.
Swift previously posted scrambled-letter versions of the vault tracks for "Fearless (Taylor's Version)" and "Red (Taylor's Version)." The identities of the new songs will be disclosed to fans by solving a series of 89 puzzles generated by Google's search engine, the company announced on Tuesday.
On Saturday, some Swifties spotted a little blue vault pop up when searching "Taylor Swift," increasing anticipation as Swifties anticipated the disclosure of what the vault meant. The vault opened to reveal a scrambled version of Swift's impending album title, and more puzzles would be revealed as participants entered solutions into the search bar. However, many fans believe there is a bug because they cannot advance after searching for answers.
Some fans were dissatisfied because they couldn't play or because the game required a huge number of puzzle completions when it wasn't working properly.
"I feel like Taylor constantly forgets how big she is," one X, formerly known as Twitter user, wrote. "When you consider the fact that the vault is broken, 33 million is a lot. Google must distinguish between those taking part in the game and those who are genuinely looking for eyewear."
Another commented, "We're not going to get 33 million before the album comes out with this stupid vault not working."
Google fixed the issues in a post on X published late on Tuesday. The vault is filled, "Swifties!" "We're in the age of DIY and will soon be out of the woods."
Swift captioned a video of a blue vault opening on her Instagram Tuesday afternoon, "You can tell me when the *search* is over... if the high was worth the pain."
On October 27, exactly nine years after the original, "1989 (Taylor's Version)" will be ?available for fans.?
