Chinese Troops And Engineers Observed Constructing Underground Bunkers Along LoC In Collaboration With Pakistan Army
With a focus on securing its enclaves in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, China's support includes the deployment of troops, construction of underground bunkers, and the supply of advanced drones, further solidifying their strategic partnership.
Notably, China's support aims to safeguard its growing enclaves in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) under the pretext of securing the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) road and hydel projects. The presence of Chinese troops and engineers has been observed along the Line of Control, where they are engaged in constructing underground bunkers and other infrastructure.
Chinese experts are reportedly digging tunnels in the Leepa Valley, PoK, as part of preparations for building an all-weather road that will serve as an alternative route to the Karakoram highway. Additionally, China Mobile Pakistan (CMPak), a subsidiary of China Mobile Communications Corporation, plays a significant role in the telecom sector in PoK, with permissions for expanding Next Generation Mobile Services granted last year.
While India has raised objections to the presence of the Chinese in the Gilgit and Baltistan regions, the Indian Army remains prepared to counter any potential threats. The continued arms transfers from China to Pakistan reflect Beijing's strategy to secure its interests and maintain dominance in the region.
Furthermore, China has been deploying advanced drones, including the CH-4A and Wing Loong-II models, to enhance surveillance capabilities and precision strike capabilities for Pakistan since 2018. These efforts highlight China's multifaceted involvement in Pakistan's military and infrastructure development, further consolidating their strategic partnership.
