As far as the Indian contingent is concerned, Day 8 begins at 1pm IST when para shooters Sidhartha Babu and Mona Agarwal take part in the mixed 50m rifle prone SH1 qualifying round. It will be followed by archers Harvinder Singh and Pooja contesting their mixed team round of 16 match at 1:50pm, and judoka Kokila Kaushilate taking the mat for her women's 48kg J2 quarter-final bout at around 2pm. On Wednesday, September 4, Day 7 of the Paris Paralympics 2024, India achieved a historic milestone by winning four medals—two gold and two silver. This brought their total medal count to 24, propelling them to 13th place in the standings.  

Around 65 medal events took place yesterday at the Para Games 2024, including 19 in athletics and 13 in swimming. China remain in the lead with a total of 135 medals, including 62 gold. Today, around 63 medal events will be held in Paris, with the Indian athletes participating in shooting, athletics, judo, powerlifting, and archery.

India’s hope for medal glory will hinge in several events. Shooters Mona Agarwal and Sidhartha Babu will start the day's action in the R6 - Mixed 50m Rifle Prone SH1 qualification at 13:00 IST. If qualified they will battle for the medal in the final taking place at 15:15 IST.

If Kapil Parmar advances to the finals in the Para Judo Men’s -60 kg J1 category, India’s hopes will be renewed at 19:30.

When Mona Agarwal was just nine months old, she contacted polio that would leave her on a wheelchair for her entire life. Born in Sikar, Rajasthan, she was also ridiculed for being the third daughter in the family.

Here's the roundup of the Paris Paralympics Day 7, that witnessed the Italian fencing star Bebe Vio settling with bronze medal in wheelchair fencing as China's Xiao Rong ended her dream of a third consecutive gold.

Oksana Masters claimed another gold medal at a Paralympics earlier by defending her title in para cycling's H4-5 individual time trial.

Tatyana McFadden, one of the most decorated U.S. Paralympians, settled for silver in the T54 100 final after finishing behind Belgium's Lea Bayekula, who set a Paralympic record by winning in 15.5 seconds.

So far, there has been no good news for India. Mona Agarwal and Sidhartha Babu, in the 50m Rifle Prone SH1, fail to qualify for the final. With a score of 615.8 and an average of 10.263, Sidhartha ends his campaign on the 24th and Mona, with a score of 610.5 and an average of 10.175 finishes on the 30th.

The Indian Judoka Kokila lost her quarterfinals 0-10 of Women's 48kg quarterfinals against Kazakhstan's Akmaral Nauatbek. However, this isn't the end for Kokila as she gets another opportunity in the repechage round.

On the other hand, there is Kapil Parmar in action in the Men 60 kg J1 Quarterfinals up against Venezuela’s Marcos Blanco.

Kapil Parmar won his men’s 60kg J1 quarterfinal 10-0 against Venezuelan and reached semifinal to take on Seyed Abadi of Iran.

Meanwhile, Kokila's opponent in the repechage round is Ukraine’s Yuliyaa Ivanytska in the women’s 48kg J2 final. If the Indian wins, she will earn a bronze medal.

And Kapil Parmar lost the silver medal as he faces 0-10 defeat by the Iranian in the men’s 60kg J1 semifinals. Now the Indian will fight for the bronze medal.

Here's the good news! Simran qualifies for the final of women’s 100m T12 finishing the semifinal with a timing of 12.33 seconds. 

With Mona, Sidhartha, and Kokila now out of medal contention, India's hopes for medal glory are pinned on the following athletes:

India's Kapil Parmar will face Brazil's Elielton de Oliveira in the semifinals of the Men's 60kg J1 bronze medal match. The match will start at 8:00 pm IST.

India defeated Poland 6-0 in the quarterfinals of the mixed team recurve open para-archery at the Paris Paralympics 2024. The Indian duo of Harvinder Singh and Pooja defeated the Polish pair of Lukasz Ciszek and Milena Olszewska to enter the semifinals.

Kapil Parmar defeated Brazil’s Elielton de Oliveira in the men’s Judo 60kg J1 bronze medal match. The Indian secures an Ippon in just 33 seconds, clinching the bronze medal. This is India's 25th medal in the ongoing edition. With this, Kapil created history by winning India's first-ever medal in Para Judo at the Paralympics; this was also India's first-ever qualification in the discipline at the Games.

After the fourth set, India and Slovenia were tied at 4-4 in the mixed team recurve open bronze medal match at the Paris Paralympics 2024. Shoot-off happened and India lost 17-19 as Slovenia took bronze medal home.

The next three Indian athletes in action are Ashok in the para powerlifting in Men’s up to 65kg Final. After him, Simran will compete in the women’s 100m T12 Final. At the same time, Arvind will participate in the men’s shot put - F35 Final.

India's Ashok Malik failed to lift 206kg in the final attempt, and his best effort came in the second round, when he successfully lifted 199kg.
