The Indian Under-19 national cricket team opened their ICC Under-19 Men's World Cup 2024 campaign in style, beating Bangladesh by a whopping 84 runs to signal their intentions to opponents straight away. The victory also put India on top of Group A, where they have remained despite Ireland and Bangladesh having played two games each. The Irish beat the United States by seven wickets in their first match, but lost to the Bangla Tigers in the following one by six wickets.

India are now up against Ireland for their second group-stage encounter, and will be looking to seal their progress to the knockout round with a win. As for Ireland, this is their third and final group clash and a do-or-die one - a loss here would make it virtually impossible for Philippus Lodewicus le Roux's team to go further in the tournament.
