Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) that he will host the Indian contingent on October 10 and interact with the athletes, after their record-breaking medal haul at the Hangzhou Asian Games

Taking note of the Indian contingent's historic achievement at the Hangzhou Asian Games, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated the athletes for reaching the "remarkable milestone" of 100 medals on Saturday. Modi wrote on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) that he will host the contingent on October 10 and interact with the athletes. India got to the 100-medal mark with a thrilling gold medal win by the women's kabaddi team, who beat Chinese Taipei 26-25 in the final and made amends for their 34-34 draw against the same team in the group stage.?(Live Blog | Medal Tally?|?Schedule?|?Streaming?|?Full Coverage)

Modi's tweet further mentioned that every awe-inspiring performance by Indian athletes has "made history and filled our hearts with pride". India's rich haul at Asian Games so far includes 25 gold, 35 silver and 40 bronze medals. The shooters (22 medals) and track and field athletes (29 medals) have provided more than half of the overall medals so far.?

India had already crossed the previous highest medal haul of 70 medals on Wednesday.?India had won 70 medals in the 2018 edition of the Asian Games in Jakarta, where the country's athletes won 16 gold, 23 silver and 31 bronze medals to record what was their best performance then.?

That India will end with at least 100 medals was confirmed on Friday evening itself, as the contingent ended Day 13 with 95 medals to its name and six more podium finishes assured. Saturday morning saw those podium finishes coming to fruition and the Indian compound archers capping off their golden run in this edition with four medals — two of them gold.
