Supreme Court Refuses To Hear N Chandrababu Naidu's Quash Petition, Says, 'Come Tomorrow'

A special leave petition was filed by Naidu in the Supreme Court on Saturday which challenged?the Andhra Pradesh High Court judgment that dismissed his petition to quash the FIR. After the plea was dismissed, a court in Vijaywada granted two-day police custody for Naidu to the CID for interrogation.

The Supreme Court refused to hear the quash petition of N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday. The Andra Pradesh Crime Investigation Department filed the FIR against Naidu in connection with the skill development scam case. The petition also?challenged his remand in the case.

According to a report by Live Law, the petition was not included in the list of oral matters for today. Out-of-turn mentioning was refused to be taken up by the CJI and?his lawyer Senior Advocate Siddharth Luthra was asked to mention the matter tomorrow.

Reportedly, Luthra highlighted the urgency of the matter and stated,?"This is related to the State of Andhra Pradesh where the opposition is being curbed...he was arrested on September 8."

But he was advised to come tomorrow on the mentioning list by CJI as he was not inclined to entertain it today.?

Another five-day custody petition filed by CID

The Andhra Pradesh CID filed a fresh petition in a court here on Monday seeking further five-day custody of TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu in the case relating to Skill Development Corporation scam.

Special Public Prosecutor, representing the CID police, Y N Vivekananda told PTI that the second custody petition has been filed as Naidu “did not” allegedly cooperate during the two-day interrogation in the Rajamahendravaram central prison.

"Today, initially the Court took up the hearing of Naidu’s bail application. At that stage the CID filed a petition seeking his custody for the second time,” said Vivekananda, adding that the petition is yet to be numbered.

Two more CID prisoner transit (PT) petitions in the AP FiberNet and Amaravati Inner Ring Road cases are also expected to come up for hearing in the court later today.

The former CM was represented by Senior lawyer Pramod Dubey.

After the two-day police custody of Naidu ended on Sunday evening, the Court had extended his judicial remand till October 5.

Naidu was arrested on September 8 and has been in custody ever since and is the 37th accused of the State Skill Development Corporation scam that the CID of the state is investigating currently.?
