Uttar Pradesh: PM Modi To Flag Off Vande Bharat Express Trains Today; Scheduled To Attend Gita Press Function

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Uttar Pradesh's Gorakhpur and his parliamentary constituency Varanasi today.

He is expected to attend various programmes, launch development projects and address a meeting of BJP workers.

PM Modi to attend?centenary celebrations of Gita Press?

It has been reported that the prime minister will first arrive in Gorakhpur, where he will attend the closing ceremony of Gita Press centenary celebrations.

According to Gita Press manager Lalmani Tripathi, during the closing ceremony, Prime Minister Modi will visit Lila Chitra temple and will also have a photo session with the trustees of the religious books' publisher. He will also address a gathering there, Tripathi said.

PM Modi to flag off Vande Bharat trains

Following the Gita Press event, PM Modi is scheduled to flag off the North Eastern Railway's first semi high-speed Gorakhpur-Lucknow Vande Bharat train from platform number 1 at Gorakhpur Junction, Chief Public Relations Officer (NER) Pankaj Kumar Singh said.

Beside, another Jodhpur-Sabarmati Vande Bharat Express will also be flagged off through video conferencing on the occasion.

Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath would be present on the occasion.

Other programmes to be attended by the PM

PM Modi is expected to visit Varanasi in the evening.

According to Varanasi Divisional Commissioner Kaushal Raj Sharma, "The prime minister will lay the foundation stones of various projects worth Rs 1,800 crore and inaugurate projects about 10,000 crore,"

"He will lay foundation stones for an international cricket stadium and three rail overbridges, among other projects," Sharma said.

The prime minister will also launch a 10-storey international hostel built in the Banaras Hindu University (BHU), the divisional commissioner said, adding he is also likely to flag off water taxis.

PM Modi will spend night in the guest house of Bharat Locomotive Works.

It has been reported that PM will reach Varanasi airport Friday evening from Gorakhpur from where, the PM will fly to Wajidpur in a helicopter and will address a rally there which is expected to be attended by more than 50,000 party workers.

District BJP sources said that the PM is expected to hold "Tiffin par charcha" with the party workers after the rally.

Medical/security arrangements in place

According to officials, 34 doctors and 90 paramedical staff will be on duty and "safe houses" are made at three places, including AIIMS, district hospital and Gita Press.?

Besides, BRD Medical College and Air Force hospital have been made referral centres where specialist doctors will be on 24-hours duty, they said.?

To ensure foolproof security during the PM's visit, eight SPs, eight additional SPs, 22 circle officers, 40 inspectors, 190 sub-inspectors, 1,500 constables, three companies of PAC and three companies of paramilitary forces, NSG commandos, snipers, and 500 GRP and RPF jawans will be on duty, ADG Akhil Kumar said.

Meanwhile, the authorities in both the districts have made elaborate arrangements for the PM's visit.

Transports restricted

In Gorakhpur, the buses going towards Lucknow, Varanasi, Kanpur, Delhi and Kushinagar will be operated from Champa Devi Park, officials said.

The buses for Sonouli, Bargadwa and Maharajganj routes will stop near the medical college, they said, adding that movement of autos and e-rickshaws will be restricted.

The entry of roadways buses will also be banned in Gorakhpur from 1 pm to 4 pm, the officials said.?
