ISRO Releases Ist Images Of Moon’s Surface From Chandrayaan-3’s Vikram Lander

ISRO said the communication link is established between the Ch-3 Lander and MOX-ISTRAC, Bengaluru.

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has released the first photo taken by the camera of Chandrayaan-3's Vikram lander after landing on Moon on Wednesday.

While sharing images of the Moon taken by the lander, ISRO in a post on X said: “The communication link is established between the Ch-3 Lander and MOX-ISTRAC, Bengaluru.

Here are the images from the Lander Horizontal Velocity Camera taken during the descent.”?

The images show the flat lunar surface and a leg of the Vikram lander along with the spacecraft's shadow.

The ISRO said that Vikram landed on a relatively flat path of lunar surface.?

The next step for Chandrayaan-3 would be the emergence of Pragyaan rover out of the lander and the starting of scientific experiments that would last two weeks.

Earlier, ISRO scripted history India by becoming the first country to land on the South Pole of Moon.

The successful lunar mission of ISRO after Chandrayaan-2 debacle in 2019 is considered historic.

In 2019, the Chandrayaan-2 mission failed to land safely in the same area, which is full of craters and deep trenches.

Prior to the Chandrayaan-3 landing, ISRO had expressed confidence that the landing will take place without a hitch, as the scientists have incorporated all the valuable lessons they learned from Chandrayaan-2.

The Chandrayaan-3 mission succeeded in making a touchdown on the Moon and in landing a robotic lunar rover in ISRO's second attempt in four years.

India has now ?become the fourth country to master the technology of soft-landing on the lunar surface after the US, China, and Russia.
